Turning Points & Termites: Catching Up on the Creative Journey

Turning Points & Termites: Catching Up on the Creative Journey

Since my last blog post in March, life has been anything but dull. If you’ve been following along on YouTube, you already know — I’ve hit some bumps, but I’m more motivated than ever to keep creating, sharing, and connecting with you all through art, story, and process.

🎬 YouTube: The Journey Continues

While I haven’t posted as frequently over the past few weeks, the momentum hasn’t stopped. I’ve been exploring new themes, experimenting with Short-form content, and reflecting on what types of videos feel most aligned. One of my most recent uploads, Artist Studio Setback, gave a peek behind the scenes at a major disruption…

🐜 Termite Invasion

Yep. My art room — my sanctuary — got swarmed by termites. The timing couldn’t have been worse, but in a weird way, it was a wake-up call. I filmed the chaos (because of course I did), and shared a message that’s been sitting in my heart: I’m not going to let setbacks stop me. If anything, they’ve reminded me why I’m doing this in the first place.

🎥 Still Showing Up

Even in the chaos, I managed to post a Short about the mess, speak from the heart, and remind myself — and others — that the creative life is full of imperfect moments. But every project, every post, every painting is a brick laid toward something bigger.

✂️ Behind the Scenes: Art, Tags, and Upcoming Videos

I’ve been working on new collage layers, testing materials from my estate sale art haul, and prepping for some upcoming videos — including stencil work and storytelling-based art vlogs. There’s something exciting about combining process and personality, and I’m leaning into that.

👨‍👩‍👧 Life, Love, and All the Rest

Amidst all of this, there have been family moments — dinners, dogs, anniversaries (15 years with Bob!), and beautiful chaos. My granddaughter Skylar made a YouTube debut, and I’ve started brainstorming new series ideas that weave art with life, laughter, and storytelling.

💡 Big Picture Goals

All of this is building toward something bigger: a sustainable creative life. I’m working toward a weekly income goal, fine-tuning systems, and laying the groundwork to build a supportive, inspired community. Whether through videos, digital prints, paintings on canvas, handmade tags, or blog updates like this — it all matters.

💬 What’s Next?

More videos. More art. More real talk.
If you haven’t subscribed on YouTube yet, come join the journey. And if you’ve been here a while — thank you for being patient, supportive, and part of this evolving story.
Let’s keep going.

With gratitude,
Christine / Darlyssa Designs
